Preview: EKS 2020
February 1 and 2, 2020, will see the fourth edition of the European Knife Show (EKS) in Strasbourg, France. What can we expect?
In its relatively short existence, the European Knife Show in Strasbourg has developed into an popular international gathering of knife enthusiasts, with both exhibitioners and visitors eager to come back. As the Helsinki show is taking a one-year break, the EKS will also be the first show of a new ‘knife year’.
The venue has remained unchanged: Hotel Mercure – Palais des Congres at the Place de Bordeaux. A pleasant place to stay, with the additional advantage of a good bar and restaurant. There will be more than 80 exhibitors, including some 15 to 20 newcomers. The complete list of exhibitors can be found at www.euroknifeshow.com/exposants-2020/. The names promise some beautiful pieces of work.
The exhibition hall is nearing the limits of its capacity, but organizer Gregory Pohl is cautious in making drastic changes. His aim for the moment is in the first place to attract a wider (international) audience, consisting not only of the major collectors, but also of “normal” knife users, before thinking about moving to another location. Furthermore, he still seems room for some improvements.
So for the moment we are curious to see what the 2020 edition will bring. We can heartily recommend a visit, but if by any chance you cannot come, don’t worry. European Blades Mag. will make a full report.
