1st Greek knife makers’ guild show
1st Greek knife makers’ guild show
The year 2018 was an important one for knife makers in Greece. They established a knife maker’s guild, and in November they organized the first Greek knife show.

The weekend of the 3rd and 4th of November featured the first knife exhibition of the Greek knife makers’ guild, established earlier this year.
More than 35 exhibitors from cities all over Greece gathered at the Peristeri Exhibition center in Athens. The people who create custom knives also participated alongside the merchants of machinery, crafting supplies and materials.
During the exhibition there were seminars on knife making for the interested visitors. However, the visitors mostly came to view, touch and buy a great variety of knives. A small sample would feature traditional knives, Bowie knives, neck knives, swords, and many others.

The crowd’s reaction was very encouraging and a hugely rewarding experience for the organisers and the exhibitors. The interest shown in handcrafted knives and sheaths is a good omen for the future of this event, and for knife making in Greece in general.
We are already looking forwards for the next year’s event which will include classes on forging and grinding. And hopefully more participants will come to exhibit their knives and merchandise.
